The Water Crisis

By: Kaitlyn W. I really think that the chemical spill was hard for many people. I live in a county that was affected but I was not. I had a different water company. All my family was affected and they could not use their water for weeks. I would hear about people fighting over water at stores and people handing out free water to people. My family had to come to my house just to shower and do their laundry. Even after the do not use was lifted, my family still did not use the water because they were scared that there still could be some of the chemical in the water. When I found out about the chemical spill, it was in the evening. The spill happened in the morning, yet the company did not tell us until the evening. People are blaming the water company for the chemical spill. It was the chemical plant’s fault. Why would you put a chemical plant by water? I was scared to use my water when I found out about the spill. Even though my water was not affected, it was scaring. I saw many people’s pictures of rashes and burns. There were so many people going to the hospital. I would blame the chemical plant for all of this, if they would have told the public about the spill earlier than it would not be so bad. After a couple weeks after the spill, the chemical plant says there was a second chemical that was involved. The plant should have said something sooner and worked faster on flushing the system. The president of the company held a press conference 24 hours after the spill happened. In my opinion, the president was scared about telling the public. I really think that this whole situation could have been better if they told us sooner and flushed the system faster than they did.
